Designed by Kyle Phillips, Dundonald Links was home to the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open in 2017. Dundonald Links has now embarked on a £25 million development plan. As well significant course improvements with designer Kyle Phillips, a new clubhouse and luxury accommodation will be opened in 2021, finally giving Dundonald Links the facilities the course truly deserves.

The new Dundonald Links Clubhouse has been designed to be the perfect place to rest, relax, and dine, created with a sleek and contemporary twist on a classic Scottish style. Created from natural materials, to blend seamlessly with the rugged Scottish landscape, with a sloping dune grass roof and world class panoramic views from its first-floor balconies, all the way to the Isle of Arran.
Each section of our Clubhouse has been carefully designed to cater to your every need with an understated elegance, whilst being a destination in itself. Open to all visitors – whether you’re looking to work up a sweat in our gym, relax with a handpicked local whiskey in our tasting lounge, or enjoy a gourmet meal by our world-class chefs – our Clubhouse is truly the place to be after a long day on the course.

In addition to the luxury clubhouse, our £25 million project will also see the development of 22 rooms and eighteen luxury lodges. With a choice of 6, 4 and 2 bedrooms, the lodges are designed with golfers in mind for the ultimate golfing getaway; pairing practicality with style for the ultimate in refined comfort. With a number of the lodges clustered around practice putting greens, you can hone your skills whilst also enjoying the comforts of the lodges.

The hotel room accommodation is equipped with everything the modern golfer might need. Just a swing away from the clubhouse itself, the rooms have been carefully designed to combine contemporary and legacy, to create something truly unique

Finally, around £1 million of improvements will be made to the existing golf course ahead of re-opening in May 2021 in order to enhance the playing experience, which will be led by the original course designer Kyle Phillips and his team. Dundonald Links will be one of the finest golf destinations in the UK – from its wonderfully designed golf course to its five-star facilities. Play, dine, and relax, with our par 72 course, our world-class restaurant and the luxury lodge accommodation. Dundonald Links never looked so good.

The Golf

When it comes to Golf in Scotland, Dundonald Links has quickly become “must play”. The Par 72 course, located at the very heart of Ayrshire, offers a classic links golf experience for all to savour.

Generous fairways, undulating greens and a wide choice of tees make it an enjoyable test for everyone that visits us.

The first Dundonald Links layout was designed by 1883 Open Champion Willie Fernie, and opened on March 23rd, 1911. At 6700 yards, it was one of the  longest golf courses of its time. Following two World Wars, the site was almost unrecognisable.

Dundonald Links was purchased by Loch Lomond Golf Club in early 2003 to provide its global Membership with a traditional links challenge. They enlisted California-based architect Kyle Phillips, who had recently built Kingsbarns, to create a links masterpiece right here on the Ayrshire coast.

With the stunning coastal land that presented itself to Kyle Phillips, he saw the opportunity to create the ultimate modern links layout.

Featuring everything you would expect from a world class modern links course, Dundonald Links has wonderful undulations, deep rough, a generous helping of gorse bushes and unlike many traditional links courses, there are areas of the course that are framed by stunning pine trees.
