There are so many great golf courses in and around Malaga, Mijas and Marbella on the Costa Del Sol, below are just a few: Valderama On a private club, the Ryder Cup took place in 1997 for the first time in continental Europe. The flat semi-rough with thick grass allows the balls to dive into and sit deep! The thousand cork oaks, which you have to play around or over, are also a challenge. All handicap levels will get their money's worth. Los Naranjos The wide and hilly courses are characteristic for the links built by Robert Trent Jones. Difficult drives over large bunkers and to huge greens, which are lined by orange trees, are rewarded by a beautiful view on Marbella. Los Arqueros Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club was the first golf course to be designed by Severiano Ballesteros on the Costa del Sol. The 18-hole championship course varies with contrasting landscapes including three lakes and several streams which make each hole a different challenge. Los Arqueros Golf is in an enviable mountain setting with magnificent views over the Andalusian hills and the Mediterranean. Cabopino Opened in 2000, golfing with wonderful views over the surrounding landscape, the sea and the mountains. Because it is conveniently placed as regards transport and facilities this course is very easy to reach. Santa Maria This course impresses with its unique location: The courses follow in the beginning the outlines of the deep valley and afterwards around the mountain, with breath-taking views in the Mediterranean. It is also playable for those with with higher handicaps. Although there are some holes with a very peculiar character! A beautiful, neat course with a perfectly matching clubhouse in the style of a manor-house. Calanova There are a variety of fairways layouts. All of them are wide in the ball drop areas and clear, so that the player can see the obstacles before hitting the ball. Tees are spread in different platforms, providing the players the possibility of playing the course with a huge variety of distances. This number of platforms will keep tees always in excellent conditions. From every single tee players can visualize the shot which makes the flight of the ball spectacular. Santa Clara The golf course that can be called a golf course because of its wonderful vegetation, it’s equipped with the finest Pemcross-grass.
