The Golf

With three championship golf courses, Scotland’s PGA National Golf Academy, and a member of Great Golf Resorts of the World – golf is at the very heart of Gleneagles.

Gleneagles Hotel Scotland

There has been golf at Gleneagles longer than the Hotel’s 90 year history, with the first course – The King’s Course – dating back to 1919, but this longevity has driven us to develop some of the best courses and coaching in the world. From the professionals at the very top of the game, to keen amateurs and those just starting out, generations of golfers have experienced the game at Gleneagles, with many more to come.  Whether it is the stunning vistas the courses provide, the thrills and challenges along the way or treading the same turf as some of the legends of the game, there are so many reasons to play golf at Gleneagles.

PGA Centenary Course – Host venue of The 2014 Ryder Cup and of The 2019 Solheim Cup
With a par of 72, The PGA Centenary Course is a perennial favourite. A Championship course to rival the best it started out as The Monarch’s Course, designed by legendary golfer and course architect, Jack Nicklaus, back in 1993. It was renovated further in 2011, in anticipation of The Ryder Cup coming to Gleneagles, ensuring a spectacular course for years to come.

Today the course is one to challenge the best and thrill anyone who plays on it – truly a course for the players.

The King’s Course
Dating back to 1919 – predating the hotel by five years – The King’s Course has stood the test of time, remaining a challenge for both professionals and amateurs alike. The game of golf has changed substantially since this course was originally designed, but its emphatic design and the way it has been updated has kept it one of the most stunning courses in the country.

The Queen’s Course
Tom Watson and Johnny Miller – just two of the famous names that have played The Queen’s Course of the years, making this so much more than just our third course. Sitting on the northern and western sides of our estate, The Queen’s Course takes in high ridges, water hazards, woodland and ditches, showing off the natural beauty of the area.

But do not let that deceive you, this is a challenging course with plenty of surprises in store.
