Peterhead Golf Club

Overview

Peterhead Golf Club is a great place to play golf on the rugged northeast coast of Aberdeenshire. Founded in 1841, it’s one of the oldest golf clubs in the world. The club has a rich history and offers a traditional course that has tested many golfers over the years. With beautiful views of the North Sea and a course that’s shaped by nature, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking for a real links golf experience.

Course Layout

The layout at Peterhead Golf Club is a classic 18-hole links design, known as the “Old Course.” It stretches over 6,200 yards and plays to a par of 70. The course winds through natural dunes and undulating fairways, where tight lies, pot bunkers, and coastal breezes demand precision and strategy. The traditional out-and-back routing makes for a memorable round, especially when the wind shifts direction.

Signature Holes

One of the course’s signature holes is the par-3 13th, known locally as “Sea Hole.” It features a demanding tee shot over a rugged coastal burn to a raised green, often exposed to swirling winds. Another standout is the 4th hole, a testing par-4 that hugs the shoreline and rewards careful shot placement with breathtaking sea views.

Facilities & Clubhouse

Peterhead Golf Club has great facilities for everyone. The clubhouse is modern and inviting, with a pro shop that has everything you need. You can also find clean locker rooms and a cosy lounge area to relax in. After your game, enjoy a meal or drink at the bar and restaurant, where they serve traditional Scottish dishes. The friendly staff is always ready to help, making sure your day of golf is enjoyable and memorable.

Tournaments

The club has held many regional tournaments and is well-respected in the Scottish amateur golf community. Its reputation for being fair while still providing a good challenge makes it a favourite for golf groups and visitors.
