Campo Europa Golf Course
Overview
Campo Europa at La Cala Golf Resort is a stunning 18-hole course nestled in the foothills of the Sierra de Mijas, in the Costa del Sol. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson, this course offers a more forgiving layout compared to its sister courses, Asia and America. Yet, it still presents a satisfying test for golfers of all skill levels.
Course Layout
Campo Europa is a golf course that stretches 6,014 meters. It features wide fairways and large, flat greens, making it great for players with mid to high handicaps. However, it still requires some smart planning to score well. The Ojen River flows through the course in several spots, adding to its charm and making the game more interesting. There are four lovely bridges that let players cross the river safely, enhancing the course’s beauty without stopping the game.
Subtle Challenges and Strategic Play
Despite its forgiving nature, Campo Europa is far from easy. Water hazards, bunkers, and subtle doglegs keep players alert from tee to green. The par 71 layout features a mix of reachable par 5s and demanding par 4s that require well-placed tee shots.
Signature Hole – The Stunning 14th
The signature hole on Campo Europa is the par-3 14th. Elevated tee boxes offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the course. Accuracy is key, as players must carry their shot over the river to reach a green well-guarded by bunkers.
Facilities at La Cala Resort
Golfers at Campo Europa can enjoy all the facilities that La Cala has to offer. This includes a clubhouse, plenty of practice areas, and a pro shop. Plus, the resort features a luxury hotel, a relaxing spa, and several dining choices, making it an ideal spot for a golf holiday.
Tournaments and Events
Campo Europa holds local tournaments and golf society events, highlighting its quality and popularity among players who visit. With its friendly design and beautiful scenery, it’s a great place for both relaxed games and serious competitions.
