Mar Menor Golf Course

Overview

The Mar Menor Golf Course is a great place to play golf in Murcia, Spain. It started as a 9-hole course designed by Dave Thomas. Later, Jack Nicklaus helped turn it into an 18-hole course. This mix of styles makes it a great and unique spot for golf. If you’re planning a golf holiday to Murcia, this course should be on your list!

Course Layout

This par-72 golf course is just over 6,100 meters long from the back tees. The front nine holes, designed by Thomas, have wide fairways and big greens. These holes are easier to play, but there are bunkers and water hazards that keep players on their toes. The back nine, designed by Nicklaus, is tougher. The fairways are narrower, and there are more bunkers and larger water hazards, which require careful planning and accurate shots.

Standout Holes

One of the signature holes is the par-3 15th. Playing over water to a narrow green, it’s a test of nerve and accuracy. Another standout is the par-5 13th, where golfers must navigate water along the left side and contend with a well-guarded green. These holes showcase the course’s variety and balance between playability and challenge.

Facilities

Mar Menor Golf has some facilities that golfers will love. The modern clubhouse has a nice view of the course and includes a restaurant, a bar, and a pro shop. There’s a big driving range where you can practice, along with a short game area and a putting green. These are perfect for warming up before your game or for taking lessons from one of the professional instructors. Plus, if you want to stay close by, the Mar Menor Golf Resort offers accommodation, making it easy to enjoy golf breaks in the area.

The course has held many local amateur tournaments and is loved by golf groups and businesses that visit. With its excellent maintenance and professional setup, every round of golf feels like you’re playing in a tournament.
