Circolo Golf Villa D’Este
Overview
Welcome to Circolo Golf Villa D’Este, a beautiful golf course located in the hills of Montorfano, just 7 km south of Como. This is one of Italy’s best golfing spots, famous for its amazing views and fun challenges. The course was designed by Peter Gannon in 1926 and features 18 holes with a par of 69. It stretches over 5,760 meters, winding through forests of chestnut, ash, and pine trees. As you play, enjoy the stunning views of Lake Montorfano and the nearby Pre-Alps. Ranked among the top 100 golf courses in Europe, Circolo Golf Villa D’Este promises a great experience for golfers of all levels. Come and enjoy a round of golf in this fantastic setting!
Course Layout and Challenges
The Circolo Golf Villa D’Este course is known for being both challenging and well-designed. It has six par-3 holes, with five of them longer than 180 yards, so accuracy is very important. The course features narrow fairways, deep bunkers, and rolling greens, all of which can be tough for even the best golfers.
Since the course is on hilly land, players will face different types of lies, which means they need to think carefully about their shots. The 15th hole, a par-4 that is 464 yards long, stands out as a tough challenge because of its sloped fairway and a bunker on the front left that needs to be avoided. Overall, this par-69 course measures 6,300 yards, but it feels longer because of the hills, making it one of the toughest courses in Europe.
Signature Holes
At Villa D’Este Golf Club, there are some holes that every golfer will love. One standout is the par-4 18th hole, which is a short uphill challenge right by the clubhouse. It reminds many of the famous Olympic Club in San Francisco. Another great hole is the par-5 1st, where you’ll enjoy a downhill fairway with stunning views of the snow-capped Alps. Don’t miss the par-3 10th hole either—it’s tucked away in a historic forest, making it both beautiful and fun to play. Each of these holes combines the wonders of nature with exciting strategies for a great game!
Facilities
The clubhouse has a classic charm and features a wonderful restaurant that serves Italian food. You’ll also find a great pro shop and a terrace where you can enjoy great views of the 17th and 18th holes. They offer more things to do, like a driving range, putting green, pitching green, and caddy services to help you out on the course.
