Course Layout and Challenges
The 18-hole Championship Course, opened in 1998, spans 5,919 yards with a par of 70 and a challenging slope rating of 137. Its mountain and woodland design integrates streams, terrain levels, and rock formations, demanding precision and strategy. Narrow fairways and fast greens, often exceeding 14 on the Stimpmeter, test even experienced golfers.
The 9-hole Wallerbach Course, opened in 1995, features tighter fairways, offering a distinct challenge suitable for all skill levels. Both courses leverage the diverse alpine terrain, creating a rhythmic flow of fairways and greens.
Signature Holes
The 7th hole, known as the “Green Monster,” is a tough par-4. Players must make a careful third shot to reach the elevated green, which can be a challenge for even skilled players. Hole 17, called “Adamthal-Blick,” offers amazing 360° views. From here, you can see the clubhouse and the beautiful Wallerbach Course, making it a favourite spot for its scenic beauty.
Facilities
Golf Club Adamstal features a 19th-century clubhouse with comfortable guest rooms, perfect for relaxing after a round of golf. The pro shop has everything you need, and the Halfway House, run by the Wittmann family, offers snacks and drinks to enjoy. Although the practice facilities are a bit small because of the hilly landscape, they are good enough for warming up. To tackle the steep spots on the Championship Course, it’s a good idea to use e-carts.
Hosted Tournaments
Adamstal has held events, such as the Man NO Open from 2006 to 2008, part of the European Challenge Tour, and the Euram Bank Open in 2018, which was its first event on the European Tour. These tournaments show that Adamstal is a great place for championship golf.
