Barseback Golf Club
Overview
Barseback Golf Club is a beautiful place to play golf, located along the stunning Öresund coastline in southern Sweden, near Malmö. It’s one of Europe’s best golf clubs, featuring 36 holes across two main courses—the Ocean Course and the Pines Course. There’s also a 9-hole par-3 course for a quick game.
If you love golf and want a challenge while enjoying breathtaking views, Barsebäck is the perfect choice. The club blends classic Scandinavian design with modern features, making it a great spot for a luxury golf holiday in Sweden.
Ocean Course
The Ocean Course, first designed by Ture Bruce in 1969 and recently improved, stretches up to 7,729 yards from the championship tees. This course takes players through woodlands and then leads to seaside holes by the Öresund strait. It has a par-72 layout that requires accurate shots, especially on the fast Penn A4 greens. Golfers face a real challenge on the windy coastal holes, where skill is key to avoid bunkers and deal with hard terrain.
Pines Course
The Pines Course, created by Donald Steel in 1989, is about 6,450 yards long and has a par of 71. It features winding fairways surrounded by tall pines and tricky water hazards on the front nine. Players will find tight spaces near ponds on holes like the par-5 fourth and the tough par-4 seventh. The back nine tests golfers with long par-3 holes at the 13th and 15th, plus the tough stroke-index-1 14th hole, which is a straight 376 meters long and requires both strength and control.
Signature Holes
Barseback offers a memorable golfing experience with its unique holes. On the Ocean Course, the par-3 eighth hole stands out. It features a high tee that requires a precise shot over a lake to reach a small, well-protected green. The stunning views of Öresund towards Copenhagen make this hole even more exciting.
The ninth to the eleventh holes follow along the coastline, where strong winds and changes in elevation provide a challenge, even for skilled players. On the Pines Course, the par-3 17th hole is a beautiful highlight. It’s surrounded by golden pine trees and has gentle slopes that reward a great iron shot. Earlier in the course, the fourth and fifth holes feature doglegs near the water that make players think carefully about their tee shots. Overall, Barsebäck combines natural beauty with fun challenges for golfers of all skill levels.
