Ernie Els opened The Els Club Vilamoura in July 2025, launching the first private golf club in the Algarve and the first Els Club in Europe. This exclusive club joins the prestigious Els Club portfolio, including The Els Club Copperleaf (South Africa), The Els Club Dubai (UAE), The Els Club Teluk Datai (Langkawi, Malaysia), and The Els Club Desaru Coast (Johor, Malaysia). This exclusive club delivers a sophisticated golfing experience in Europe’s sunniest region.
Exclusive Membership Experience
The Els Club Vilamoura is exclusive, extended only to founder members or by invitation. This fosters a strong sense of community and privacy. Members access a private clubhouse with the 261 Bar & Restaurant, a golf boutique, and members-only facilities. The club offers limited tee times to non-members. This ensures an exclusive experience while preserving its refined character.
Championship Course Design
The Els Club Vilamoura offers members access to an 18-hole championship golf course. A complete redesign of the former Victoria Course. The layout blends challenge, tradition, and harmony with nature. In 2026, the club will host the Portugal Invitational, a Champions Tour event, for five years. The course adheres to a smart casual dress code. No training/tennis shoes, jeans, beachwear, or T-shirts, both on the course and at the driving range. Maximum handicaps are 28 for men and 36 for ladies, with a 4-hour, 30-minute pace of play for 18 holes.
