The Queen’s Course

Overview

The Queen’s Course at The Gleneagles Hotel is one of the most beautiful golf courses in Scotland. Located in the Perthshire countryside, this course offers a perfect mix of charm, challenge, and stunning views. Designed by James Braid and opened in 1917, it has been a favourite for golfers who want to enjoy a special round of golf in nature.

Course Layout

The Queen’s Course is slightly shorter than its siblings at Gleneagles, measuring around 5,965 yards from the back tees. Don’t let its length fool you—it demands accuracy over power. Winding through woodlands, glens, and moorlands, the course features narrow fairways, strategic bunkering, and subtle elevation changes. Mature trees frame many of the holes, while natural water hazards and sloping greens test even experienced players.

Challenges and signature holes

Golfers face challenges across the Queen’s Course. The par-4 3rd hole is striking, with a raised green between two ridges. The par-4 13th, known for its views and tricky approach shot, is another standout. Short par-3s like the 5th and 14th require precise club selection and control. The finishing hole, a tight dogleg right with a sloping fairway, rewards thoughtful strategy over boldness.
