The Champions Course

Overview

Located between Lake Geneva and the French Alps, the Champions Course at Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France, is a great 18-hole golf course. It measures 6,120 meters (6,693 yards) and has a par of 72. This beautiful course is famous for its amazing views and challenging holes. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson and improved by Dave Sampson and Steve Smyers, it offers a great golfing experience for both beginners (with a minimum handicap of 35) and professional players. With its smart layout and stunning natural scenery, it’s one of the prettiest golf courses in France.

Course Layout and Challenges

The Champions Course is all about skill and smart choices. Its rolling fairways, thick grass, and quick greens create fun challenges. Exciting holes include a steep downhill par-3 that tests your judgment for distance and wind, making club selection tricky. There’s also a par-4 with a sloped fairway that requires a strong drive and an accurate second shot.

Water hazards and sand bunkers protect several greens, so you need to hit the ball high for a good approach. The hilly land and hidden shots add to the challenge, rewarding players who think carefully rather than just relying on strength.

Signature Holes

The par-3 5th hole, with water guarding the green, and the par-3 16th, where wind challenges even seasoned players, are standout signature holes. The par-5 18th demands two precise shots to reach a well-protected green, offering a dramatic finish. These holes, set against Lake Geneva’s stunning backdrop, elevate the course’s reputation as a major championship venue.

World-Class Facilities

The Evian Resort Golf Club Academy is a great place to learn and play golf. It features a 6-hole Lake Course and has modern training tools. You can get lessons from Leadbetter-certified instructors, who are experts in teaching golf.

The Manoir has eight comfortable rooms where guests can enjoy amazing views of the lake and mountains. Thanks to a partnership with Callaway, top-quality golf equipment is available. Plus, the indoor golf simulator at Hôtel Royal allows you to play all year long, no matter the weather!

Hosted Tournaments

As the annual host of The Amundi Evian Championship, a women’s major since 2013, the course has crowned champions like Grace Kim (2025, -14) and Chun In-gee (2016, record -21). This LPGA and LET co-sanctioned event, held July 10-13, 2025, draws global talent, cementing the course’s legacy.
