Heritage Golf Club

Overview

Heritage Golf Club is in the south of Mauritius. It is one of the best golf clubs in the Indian Ocean, with 45 holes and scenic views. The club has won awards for eight years in a row. It offers a great golf experience for golfers wanting championship golf courses in Mauritius. There are two 18-hole courses and a 9-hole short course. The club is also next to a UNESCO nature reserve, making it even more scenic.

Course Layout at Heritage Golf Club

The flagship Le Château Golf Course was designed by Peter Matkovich. It has an 18-hole, par-72 layout and sits on the grounds of a 19th-century castle estate. The terrain incorporates rolling hills, scenic lakes, streams, and ancient trees. You can see a blue lagoon from many parts of the course.

La Réserve Golf Links is also an 18-hole links-style masterpiece co-designed by Matkovich and Louis Oosthuizen. It is the first course of its kind in the Indian Ocean. This course runs along the oceanfront cliffs, and every hole offers scenic views of tropical bays and beaches.

The additional 9-hole par-3 course provides a compact yet challenging option.

Course Challenges

Heritage Golf Club offers many challenges that test strategy and precision, making it a top choice for golf holidays in Mauritius. At Le Château, you will encounter water hazards and elevation changes, so you need to aim your shots carefully. The wide fairways make it easier for golfers of all levels.

La Réserve has classic links elements, such as unpredictable coastal winds, pot bunkers, and fast greens, which reward creative play. All of these things make each round memorable, whether you are taking risks or getting used to the island’s tropical weather.

Signature Holes at Heritage Golf Club Mauritius

Some of the signature holes at Heritage Golf Club Mauritius are famous for their looks and the tough shots they require. At Le Château, the par-4 9th hole has achieved legendary status thanks to a dramatic playoff moment during a professional tournament.

On La Réserve, the par-3 16th hole is a short one where you have to hit a bold tee shot over a waterfall, which looks great and is hard to do. Hole 3 is a par-4 that goes up to a green with scenic views of the ocean and mountains. The par-3 4th and 7th holes are short ones that challenge players with demanding carries over rugged terrain.

Facilities and Amenities at Heritage Golf Club

Beyond the greens, Heritage Golf Club has many useful facilities for visitors. Two luxurious clubhouses, one at each main course, each with places to relax, eat, and get help.

Golfers can warm up at the practice areas, which have a three-tier driving range, putting and chipping greens, and a golf academy offering lessons from PGA professionals.

Additional amenities include a pro shop, equipment cleaning, changing rooms, and golf bag storage. All of these things make your golf holiday in Mauritius easier and more enjoyable.

Hosted Tournaments

Heritage Golf Club hosts major golf events, like the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. This tournament is tri-sanctioned by the DP World Tour, Sunshine Tour, and Asian Tour. Le Château held the event from 2015 to 2019. La Réserve first hosted it in 2023 and will do so again in December 2025.
