Old Course

Overview

The Old Course at St Andrews is one of the most iconic golf courses in the world and a must-play for any serious golfer. Often referred to as the Home of Golf, this legendary links course in Fife, Scotland, offers a unique and historic golfing experience that is truly second to none. With its rolling fairways, deep pot bunkers, and shared greens, the Old Course provides a layout steeped in tradition and challenge.

Course Design

The Old Course has a unique design that goes back over 600 years. It includes seven double greens and a traditional layout where players tee off and return back on the same path. At first glance, the wide fairways seem easy, but the changing coastal winds and cleverly placed bunkers require careful shots and smart thinking on every hole.

Standout Holes

The Old Course is full of memorable and challenging holes, but none more so than the famous 17th—the Road Hole. This par-4 is widely regarded as one of the toughest holes in golf, with a blind tee shot over the Old Course Hotel and a treacherous approach to a narrow green guarded by the infamous Road Hole Bunker. Another standout is the par-4 1st and 18th holes. This hole shares the widest fairway in golf and is framed by the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse and the town of St Andrews.

Facilities

Golfers at the Old Course can enjoy great facilities. The St Andrews Links Clubhouse has modern locker rooms, a pro shop, and a restaurant with views of the golf course. There are also practice areas and professional coaching nearby for those who want to improve their game.

Tournaments

The Old Course has held The Open Championship more than any other golf course, with the last event taking place in 2022. It is a key part of major golf tournaments and a dream destination for players all around the world.
