Jubilee Course

Overview

The Jubilee Course at St. Andrews is one of the most challenging and revered layouts in the Home of Golf. Originally opened in 1897 and named in honour of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, it has evolved from a beginner-friendly layout into one of the sternest tests of links golf in Scotland. Tucked between the New Course and the sea, the Jubilee Course offers a coastal backdrop alongside a demanding playing experience.

Course Design

Designed with narrow fairways, undulating terrain, and tightly bunkered greens, the Jubilee Course at St. Andrews demands both strategy and precision. It plays to just over 6,700 yards from the championship tees, with a par of 72. The coastal winds play a major role, requiring golfers to control their ball flight and club selection with care. What sets this course apart is its natural terrain—dunes, roughs, and pot bunkers that all combine to test every part of a golfer’s game.

Standout Holes

One of the standout holes is the par-4 15th, which doglegs around a dune and features a narrow green framed by treacherous bunkers. Another signature challenge is the 8th hole, a par 3 played over a deep gully to a tightly guarded green. Each hole presents a unique blend of difficulty and scenic beauty, making the Jubilee Course both intimidating and inspiring.

Facilities

St. Andrews Links has on-site facilities. Golfers can make use of a modern practice centre, a pro shop filled with gear, and several dining options nearby. The Links Clubhouse provides a cosy atmosphere, excellent service, and stunning views of the courses and coastline.

Tournaments

The Jubilee Course has welcomed many events over the years. Some of these include the St. Andrews Links Trophy and the R&A student championships. As a result, its reputation is becoming even stronger among both amateur and professional golfers.
