Arden Golf Course

Overview

The Arden Course at Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club is widely regarded as one of the finest inland championship golf courses in the United Kingdom. Designed by Donald Steel and opened in 1992, this par-73 layout stretches to 7,214 yards from the championship tees. It offers a stern yet fair test for golfers of all abilities.

Set within 10,000 acres of Warwickshire parkland, mature woodland, and scenic lakes, the Arden Course combines strategic design with natural beauty.

Layout and Challenges on the Arden Course

The Arden Course is known for its wide fairways lined with tall oak and pine trees, but golfers still need to hit accurate shots. There are water hazards on ten holes that can make things harder, and deep bunkers, along with hills, require careful approach shots. The last five holes, from 14 to 18, are especially tough and often determine the winners of tournaments. This is why the Arden Course is considered a real championship venue.

Signature Holes on the Arden Course

Hole 17 is a Par 3 Island Green. The iconic 192-yard 17th is the undisputed signature hole. Played entirely over water to a peninsula green guarded by bunkers and mature trees, it is one of the most photographed and talked-about par-3s in British golf.

Hole 18 is a risk-reward Par 5. A thrilling finish, the par-5 18th tempts big hitters to go for the green in two. A lake fronting the putting surface has dashed many hopes of a closing birdie.
