Fuerteventura Golf Club

Overview

Fuerteventura Golf Club is the first-built 18-hole golf course in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. Designed by Juan Catarineu, it opened in 2000 and has hosted events like the 2004 Spanish Open. The course offers a memorable, scenic round of golf, with good weather year-round and challenges for golfers of all skill levels.

Fuerteventura Golf Club Layout and Design

The 18-hole, par-72 course (approx. 6,121 meters from the back tees) features wide fairways up to 50 meters, greens averaging over 614 m², and a design that integrates with the surrounding landscape.

Holes 1 to 10 offer ocean views, and the back nine is more challenging. Three interconnected lakes and a stream introduce water hazards across multiple holes, along with 67 shallow bunkers.

The course is mostly flat and easy to walk, but you can also use buggy paths. Palm trees, green plants, and the island’s unique terrain make the course feel relaxing and welcoming,

Challenges at Fuerteventura Golf Club

Wind plays a significant role in play, demanding precision and adaptability even for experienced players. Narrower sections, doglegs, and water hazards test shot accuracy and course management.

The layout rewards thoughtful strategy over pure power, making it suitable for golfers of all abilities while offering a rewarding challenge for low handicappers.

Consistent, well-maintained fairways, tees, and rough enhance playability in the mild climate, averaging 22°C year-round.

Signature Holes

A few holes really stand out on this course. Hole 2 is a par 5, tough hole with a narrow fairway. There is water on the left and out of bounds on the right.

Hole 7 is a scenic par 3 that requires a shot over water, making it both pretty and hard. Hole 17 is a par 5 that goes uphill to the green. The 18th hole turns and goes downhill toward the clubhouse.

Facilities at Fuerteventura Golf Club

Fuerteventura Golf Club has many amenities for visitors. The practice area has a driving range with over 50 spots, an 800 m² putting green, an approach green, and a bunker practice area.

A well-stocked Pro Shop, professional tuition, and a welcoming clubhouse with views of the course complete the experience.
