Oakdale Golf Club

Overview

Oakdale Golf Club, located in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, is a premier destination for golf in England. Established in 1914, the course was designed by renowned architect Dr Alister MacKenzie. The layout features two loops of nine holes, with the white course measuring 6,477 yards (par 71) and the red course at 5,513 yards (par 72).

Set within 130 acres of a gentle valley, the course blends parkland and moorland elements. This offers varied challenges from the first hole to the last. The Oak Beck stream meanders alongside the 10th fairway and in front of the 9th and 18th greens, demanding precise shots.

The 18th hole is particularly noteworthy. Golfers must hit a straight tee shot to avoid out-of-bounds on the left, followed by an accurate approach to carry the water hazard without overshooting the green.

Oakdale Golf Club offers a modern approach to membership and boasts a lively social scene. The club is split into various sections, including Ladies, Mens, Rabbits, and Seniors, catering to golfers of all levels.

Throughout the year, Oakdale hosts several open competitions, allowing golfers to experience the course’s beauty and challenges.

The professional team, led by PGA Head Coach Steven McDonnell, has achieved over 200 wins since 2021. Notably, Faye Wheatley won the Grand Final of Europe of The Faldo Series in 2021 under his guidance.

Oakdale Golf Club offers a challenging course and a rich history, making it a must-visit destination.
