Shrigley Hall Golf Course

Overview

Set in the Cheshire countryside near Macclesfield and the Peak District, Shrigley Hall Golf Course is the place to play golf in the North West of England. The 18-hole, par-71 championship course, designed by Donald Steel, is a good challenge for all golfers. The course is about 6,189 to 6,251 yards long and features mature parkland, strategic challenges, and elevation changes.

Course Layout and Challenges

Shrigley Hall Golf Course has a varied, challenging layout that uses the natural terrain well. The elevation changes create scenic tee shots and lovely views across the Cheshire Plain and towards Manchester. Golfers will find rolling fairways, mature trees, well-placed bunkers, and occasional water hazards that reward careful play.

The hilly nature of the course adds a physical challenge, making a buggy highly recommended for most players. The fast, undulating greens test putting accuracy, while positioning is essential throughout. This Donald Steel design balances playability with genuine championship difficulty, so golfers of all abilities can enjoy their round.

Memorable Holes

Several standout holes define the character of Shrigley Hall Golf Course. The closing stretch provides a memorable finish, including a par 3 over water on the 18th hole, visible from the Lodge terrace. The course’s elevated positions deliver spectacular views, enhancing the overall experience and creating iconic moments on many holes.
