Streamsong Black Course

Overview

The Streamsong Black Course is at Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Florida. Designed by Gil Hanse in 2017, this par-73 course is 7,331 yards long from the back tees. It mixes traditional Scottish links-style elements with the land shaped by old phosphate mining terrain in central Florida. The course is both beautiful and challenging, making each round interesting.

Streamsong Black Course Layout and Design

The Streamsong Black Course is designed so that the 18 holes feel connected and flow smoothly.

Golfers will find fairways that curve through sandy wastelands and native grasses, with greens that are intricately contoured. The first nine holes are easier with approachable par-4s and par-5s. The last nine holes are longer and more difficult, testing distance and accuracy.

Multiple tee options accommodate various skill levels, so beginners and experts can both enjoy the course. The design is inspired by classic links courses that use the land’s natural contours rather than man-made challenges.

Challenges at Streamsong Black Golf Course

Golfers find many challenges at the Streamsong Black Course that require precision and planning. Bold contours and undulating greens require careful putting, often influenced by winds that can alter shots.

Deep, rough bunkers make it hard if you miss, while water features on select holes add psychological pressure. The ground is firm and fast, rewarding smart shots like low, rolling approaches. Overall, its rating is 74.7, and the slope is 135 from the tips.

Signature Holes

A few signature holes stand out at the Streamsong Black Course. Hole 1, a 436-yard par-4, sets the tone with a wide fairway leading to a bunker-protected green. Hole 7, a 207-yard par-3, challenges players to carry over a lake to reach a large, contoured green. Pin placement can dramatically affect scores.

Hole 16, a 562-yard par-5, presents a classic risk-reward opportunity, but mistakes can land them in the sand. These holes show Hanse’s mastery in integrating natural elements for memorable play.
