Teeth Of The Dog Golf Course

Overview

Experience the incredible beauty of the Teeth of the Dog Golf Course at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas. This golf course is in the Dominican Republic and is one of the best. Designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1971, the course features 18 unique holes carved into the stunning coral coastline of La Romana. It has earned the title of the number one golf course in the Caribbean and is ranked 27th in the world.

Course Layout at Teeth of the Dog

With a par of 72 and a length of 7,350 yards from the championship tees, the course combines 11 holes set inland with seven incredible oceanfront holes. These ocean holes are popularly called the “Heaven 7” and are so beautiful that even Pete Dye said they were “created by God.”

The layout of the course includes challenges like hills, doglegs, and natural rock formations. Plus, there are different tee options available, making it a great experience for golfers of all skill levels while allowing players to take in the beauty of the tropical paradise around them.

Course Challenges

The challenges of this Caribbean golf course are tough but exciting. The fairways are narrow, and there are deep bunkers and hard coral formations that require careful planning and skill. Strong trade winds can make the game even more unpredictable, testing even the best players. Mistakes are often punished with rocky hazards and areas where you must hit over the sea.

However, those who play boldly and accurately can find great rewards during their round. Teeth of the Dog is a must-visit for anyone who loves oceanfront golf. It offers a memorable experience that combines physical challenges with the sounds of waves crashing on the shore.

Signature Holes at Teeth of the Dog

The signature holes on this course truly make it special. The fifth hole is a par-3 that showcases the beauty of the coast. You need to make an accurate shot over the water to reach a green that sits on coral cliffs. With the wind blowing, even an easy shot can become quite a challenge!

Then there’s the sixth hole, a 469-yard par-4 that curves along the shoreline. It offers stunning sea views and invites players to try bold shots.

The “Heaven 7” features the seventh hole, which is another par-3 that faces the wind and has a hard-sloped green. The final holes, 15 through 17, include high tee shots and greens protected by bunkers. These holes give scenic views of the Caribbean and are some of the most photographed holes in golf.
