The Kings Course

Overview

The King’s Course at The Gleneagles Hotel is one of the most famous golf courses in Scotland. It was designed by James Braid and opened its doors in 1919. This course is perfect for golfers of all skill levels and offers a fantastic experience. Located in Perthshire, the King’s Course offers stunning views of the Ochil Hills, making it a beautiful setting for golf and enjoying the scenery.

Course Layout

The King’s Course is in a classic heathland style and measures 6,790 yards from the back tees. It moves smoothly through natural landscapes, featuring gently sloping fairways, smartly placed bunkers, and rolling greens. To play well here, you need to be precise; where you hit the ball off the tee can really affect your next shot. This course values skilful shots more than just power, making it a great challenge for golfers.

Standout Holes

One of the standout challenges on the King’s Course is its variety. Each hole has a unique character, ensuring no two rounds feel the same. The par-4 13th, “Braid’s Brawest,” is widely regarded as a signature hole. It demands an accurate drive and a well-judged second shot to a guarded green. Another highlight is the par-3 5th, “Het Girdle,” which plays over a valley to an elevated green surrounded by trouble.

Facilities

Golfers who come to The King’s Course enjoy facilities at The Gleneagles Hotel. You’ll find a modern clubhouse, locker rooms, and a pro shop. There are also practice areas, like a driving range and a short game area, so you can warm up nicely before your round.

Tournaments

The King’s Course has hosted numerous tournaments, including the Scottish Open and the WPGA Championship of Europe.
