The Oxfordshire Golf Course
Overview
The Oxfordshire Golf Club, part of The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa, is one of England’s top championship courses. The course was designed by Rees Jones—his first in the UK. It is a par-72 course about 7,192 yards long from the tournament tees. The layout offers a fun and attractive test for golfers of all skill levels.
Course Layout and Challenges
Set in the Oxfordshire countryside, the course has 135 bunkers and four large lakes that come into play on multiple holes. The course fits naturally with the Chiltern terrain, creating an authentic links-style experience inland.
Players must steer through contoured fairways, precise shot-shaping requirements, and risk-reward decisions around water hazards and deep bunkers. The course maintains full length year-round without temporary greens, ensuring consistent playing conditions.
The design rewards accurate play rather than raw power, making it a test for low handicappers while remaining enjoyable for higher handicaps.
Signature Holes at The Oxfordshire Golf Club
The 17th hole is the signature hole.
It is a long, 588-yard par 5 and has been listed in Golf Magazine’s top 500 holes in the world. A straight drive is essential to avoid the bunker on the right and a lake on the left.
To reach the green, players must hit over water to a green surrounded by hazards, making this hole both scenic and fun.
Facilities
The four-star hotel has 50 rooms. The Tempus Spa has a 15-meter indoor pool, a gym, a sauna, a steam room, and many relaxing treatments. You can eat at the Sakura restaurant, enjoy the Lakes Lounge, or grab a snack at the Spike Bar after playing golf. There are also spaces for meetings, weddings, and business events in a calm setting.

The Oxfordshire Golf Club has a rich tournament history.
